Montenegro vs Armenia

Match Preview

Montenegro have made a strong start to their Nations League campaign, winning all three of their matches so far. Their latest result was a 2-1 victory away to Latvia last Friday.

It was a deserved win, with Adzic scoring early in both halves. Montenegro created several additional chances and could have won by a bigger margin. However, they will be without defenders Marusic and Sipcic, as well as midfielders Vukotic, Haksabanovic and Camaj.

Armenia struggled to respond after their disappointing 3-2 home defeat to Montenegro, suffering another loss against Cyprus last Friday. They went down 2-0 despite having a man advantage for the final 40 minutes and were unable to turn their chances into goals.

Armenia will be missing defenders Bandikyan, Bueno, Mkrtchyan, Muradyan and Grigoryan, while forward Ranos is also unavailable.

Armenia need a positive result to remain in contention for second place, and their performance in the first meeting suggests they can create problems again. Montenegro are deserved favourites given their form, home advantage and motivation, but their defensive stability remains a concern.

Croatia vs England

Match Preview

Croatia suffered a 4-1 defeat away to Spain in the previous round and will be looking for a much better performance on home soil. They conceded after just two minutes but quickly found an equalizer. However, as the match progressed, Spain’s superior intensity became clear and Croatia struggled to keep up.

Croatia will be without defenders Erlic, Juranovic and Caleta-Car, midfielder Moro, and forward Orsic.

England, meanwhile, comfortably defeated the Czech Republic 2-0 away from home, producing a professional performance and justifying their status as favourites. The visitors showed greater intensity and took full control after the hosts were reduced to ten men, with the result never seriously in doubt.

England have several notable absences for this international break. Henderson, O’Reilly, Livramento, Stones, James and Spence are missing from defence, while Rice, Palmer, Mainoo and Henderson are unavailable in midfield. Up front, Rashford and Watkins are also absent.

England come into the match as favourites, but Croatia should be more competitive at home and are unlikely to simply sit back. These sides know each other well after their recent meeting, and with Croatia expected to take a more attacking approach, another entertaining encounter could be on the cards.

Bosnia & Herzegovina vs Sweden

Match Preview

Bosnia & Herzegovina produced an impressive performance away to Romania last Monday, winning 4-2 after showing plenty of attacking quality. Their quick transitions caused problems throughout the match, and they could even have scored more.

Vasilj, Dedic, Hadzikadunic, Gazibegovic, Hadziahmetovic and Burnic are unavailable.

Sweden have also made an excellent start to the Nations League. After beating Romania, they followed it with a convincing 3-1 home win over Poland. Despite Poland briefly getting back into the game, Sweden created more going forward and deserved the victory.

Holm, Ekdal, Lagerbielke, Hien, Stoud, Ayari, Svanberg, Ali, Isak, Nilsson and Elanga will miss this match.

Bosnia return home in good form and should be motivated to push for another three points, with Dzeko’s farewell adding extra importance to the occasion. Sweden arrive with several absences but still possess enough attacking quality to cause problems. With neither side likely to settle for a passive approach, this could develop into an open and entertaining match.

Malta vs Gibraltar

Match Preview

Malta are in strong form, having won their last three matches: 2-0 away to Azerbaijan, 2-1 away to Andorra in the Nations League, and 2-0 against Liechtenstein in a friendly. Coach Emilio De Leo rotated heavily against Liechtenstein, leaving the main players fresh for this match. Teddy Teuma, Matthew Guillaumier, Ilyas Chouaref, Irvin Cardona and Paul Mbong are all available.

Gibraltar opened their Nations League campaign with a 0-0 home draw against Andorra. They defended well enough to keep a clean sheet but offered very little going forward, and this will be a tougher challenge away from home. No new squad problems have been reported.

Malta have improved under De Leo and should be confident after three straight wins. Gibraltar can defend deep, but Malta have more quality and attacking options. The hosts should control the game and have a good opportunity to win by at least two goals.
